75th anniversary of Vivekananda Byamagar; CM assures infrastructural development

Agartala Sept 27: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday recalled the important role of Vivekananda Byamagar, one of the oldest Gymnasium in Agartala that has been a core part of many notable gymnasts of the state including Mantu Debnath, Madhusudan Saha, Bharat Kishore Debbarma, Bishweshwar Nandi among others.
The chief minister inaugurated a voluntary blood donation camp organized at the Gymnasium to mark its 75th anniversary since establishment.
Highlighting the importance of blood donation drives to meet the increasing demand for blood, the chief minister thanked the organizers, blood donors and the health workers and doctors for taking part in the noble initiative.
“Blood donation in Tripura is nothing less than a festival and such donation camps significantly contribute to fulfilling the growing need for blood in the state blood banks”, said Dr Saha.
Considering the important role that Vivekananda Byamagar has been playing in the sports sector of the state, the chief minister also assured to take steps towards its overall development in the coming days.
“Although for a short period, I too was a member of this Byamagar. This also falls under my constituency and therefore I will talk with the concerned officials and see that the Byamagar is further developed for the benefit of the sports person and common people”, he said.
AMC Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder along with Padma Shri Award winning gymnast of Tripura, Dipa Karmakar among others also attended the event.
